The Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fundoffers
a comprehensive network of support, helping students navigate the
post-secondary education experience - from the application and selection
process through college graduation - with academic college scholarships,
a college prep mentoring program, SAT test preparation, service-learning,
internship programs and support while in college.
Unleashing the Power of Collaboration
Through a collaborative effort with mentors
and volunteers, Hoop Dreams students
have enjoyed significant achievements. Since its founding in 1996,
HDSF has united over 800 DC students and mentors from the local
business community; facilitated hundreds of internships; engaged
over 1,000 volunteers in community work; coached nearly 400 students
through SAT prep programs in partnership with The Princeton Review;
and helped nearly 700 inner city students reach college with over
1000 scholarships totaling nearly $2.5 million. Hoop Dreams is proud
to have well over 80 college graduates and more on the way, many
of whom have returned to volunteer and mentor with the organization,
completing a full circle of community service.

100th Scholarship Award
This summer Hoop Dreams will award its 1000th scholarship, bringing the total amount awarded since '96 to $2.5 million and helping nearly 700 students go to college.
