Providing a Comprehensive Support Network
The Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund offers a comprehensive network of support, helping students navigate the post-secondary education experience - from the application and selection process through college graduation - with academic college scholarships, a college prep mentoring program, SAT test preparation, service-learning, internship programs and support while in college.
Unleashing the Power of Collaboration
Through a collaborative effort with mentors and volunteers, Hoop Dreams students have enjoyed significant achievements. Since its founding in 1996, HDSF has united over 800 DC students and mentors from the local business community; facilitated hundreds of internships; engaged over 1,000 volunteers in community work; coached nearly 400 students through SAT prep programs in partnership with The Princeton Review; and helped nearly 700 inner city students reach college with over 1000 scholarships totaling nearly $2.5 million. Hoop Dreams is proud to have well over 80 college graduates and more on the way, many of whom have returned to volunteer and mentor with the organization, completing a full circle of community service.
